Matthew SaGurney is an artist, educator, father, and hiker who has lived in Buffalo since the early ‘90’s. Born and raised in Western New York’s Southern Tier, he is a proud alumnus of Buffalo State College and grateful former member of the Buffalo Arts Studio. Teaming up with fellow art joker, Rob Lynch, they formed the mural duo SoloRoths. SaGurney’s work jumps around different media (ceramics, printmaking, drawing, painting, and photography) and plays with ideas of perceived fragility, glossy facades, bad jokes, plastic affections, magic bullets, miracle remedies, suburban slang, banal epiphanies, war machines, and puffy clouds. He takes himself very seriously.
